Motorola Mobility LLC is a smartphone and consumer electronics manufacturer. It is a subsidiary of the Chinese PC and other consumer electronics brand, Lenovo. Motorola Mobility came into existence in the year 2011 with the split of Motorola Inc. into two separate companies. Motorola Mobility was acquired by Google in May 2012, however Google sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo in January 2014 for $6.91 billion.

Motorola Mobility designs and manufactures smartphones based on Android operating system. In fact, the first Android smartphones were sold by Motorola. The first Android smartphone, the Droid, was launched by Motorola in November 2009. Droid was marketed as a competitor to Apple’s iPhone, with 250,000 Droid sales within the first week of its launch. The first generation Moto X was launched in August 2013. Over the years, Motorola has launched multiple generations of Moto smartphones, such as Moto G, Moto E, Moto X Pro, Moto Z, Moto C, Moto Razor and Moto Edge and Edge+.
